Exams Policy

IT Academy Exams

  • Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA)
    The Department of Computer Science is registered as a Certiport testing centre.  We will arrange your MTA exams to take place on Wednesday mornings or afternoons - usually during term time.  You should contact the Computer Science Helpdesk to book your exam.

    MTA Exam retake policy:

    • If you pass the exam, you can not retake to improve your score.
    • You must wait 24 hours before you can attempt a second time.
    • If you do not succeed on the second or subsequent attempts you must wait 7 days before trying again.
    • You can not attempt a particular exam more than five times in a 12 month period.
Certiport Testing Centre
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS)
    The Department of Computer Science is registered as a Certiport testing centre.  We will arrange your MOS exams to take place on Wednesday afternoons - usually during term time.  You should contact the Computer Science Helpdesk to book your exam.

    MOS Exam retake policy (from 1 July 2014):

    • If you pass the exam, you can retake again to improve your score.
    • You must wait 24 hours before you can attempt a second time.
    • After the second or subsequent attempts you must wait 48 hours before trying again.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
    Currently the University of Liverpool is not registered to host Microsoft Professional Exams, you should contact Prometric to book your Microsoft Professional Certification exam.

    MCP Exam retake policy:

    • If you pass the exam, you can not retake to improve your score.
    • You must wait 24 hours before you can attempt a second time.
    • If you do not succeed on the second or subsequent attempts you must wait 14 days before trying again.
    • You can not attempt a particular exam more than five times in a 12 month period.
